Custom Advent Calendar Boxes — 24-Door, Drawer & Book Structures

An advent calendar is the one box your customer opens twenty-four times. We manufacture custom advent calendar boxes for beauty brands, food and chocolate sellers, candle makers and corporate gift programs — built from the same greyboard, printing presses and QC benches as our rigid gift boxes. Structures start at 200 pieces, with free samples and free artwork support so you can approve the compartments, doors and print before production begins.

Advent Calendar Structures We Build

The structure decides how your calendar feels in the hand and how much it costs to ship. These are the formats we run most:

Drawer-style advent calendar boxes

Twenty-four small drawers that pull out of a rigid outer case. The premium feel of a jewelry counter display, and the format beauty brands ask for most — each drawer holds a sample, a lip balm or a mini candle. Drawer-style advent calendar boxes are heavier to ship but photograph extremely well on social media.

Door-style and book-style advent calendar boxes

The classic flip-open format: die-cut doors on a printed front panel, opening onto individual compartments. A book-style advent calendar box with a magnetic flap cover works as a flat, freight-friendly alternative — it packs into cartons at a fraction of the shipping volume of a drawer calendar.

Modular tray advent calendar boxes

Individual trays that nest inside one outer sleeve — the practical choice when your 24 items are different sizes (a mix of minis, full sizes and inserts). Trays can also be sold separately as refill packs, which turns one production run into two products.

Who Orders Custom Advent Calendar Boxes

Every November the same question lands in our inbox: “can we still do a calendar for this Christmas?” The brands that never ask are the ones that ordered in October. Here is who we build them for:

  • Beauty and skincare brands — advent calendar boxes that introduce a full product line. See how we approach cosmetics packaging.
  • Candle and home fragrance makers — mini or tea-light advent calendar boxes with protective inserts that stop glass shifting in transit.
  • Chocolate, tea and specialty food sellers — food-safe papers and grease-resistant compartment liners.
  • Corporate gift programs — calendars branded for clients and staff, packed alongside your other brand packaging.
  • Pet brands and toy makers — drawer calendars built around daily treats or small collectibles.

Materials, Printing & Finishes

Advent calendar boxes are built from the same materials we use across all custom paper packaging boxes:

  • Board: greyboard for rigid outer cases, folding carton board for doors and trays, corrugated for mailer outer cartons. We work with FSC-certified paperboard as standard.
  • Printing: full-colour CMYK, with Pantone matching for brand-critical colours — the door numbers and brand marks are exactly where colour drift shows, so every print run is checked against your signed proof.
  • Finishes: hot foil stamping for numbers and logos, spot UV on snowflakes and patterns, embossing/debossing for a tactile front panel, matte or soft-touch lamination for the outer case.
  • Compartments: paper dividers, EVA or moulded pulp inserts — chosen by product weight and fragility.

MOQ, Samples & Planning Your Season

Advent calendar boxes start at 200 pieces — the same minimum that applies across our whole range, so a seasonal calendar does not force you into warehouse-filling quantities. A free sample of your structure and a printed proof are part of every order.

Timing is the part most first-time calendar buyers get wrong. A 24-compartment structure is not a standard box — tooling, compartment assembly and QC all take longer than a single rigid box. Then sea freight adds its own weeks. If your calendars need to be on shelf or in customers’ hands for December 1st, the safe window to place production is early-to-mid October. Later orders are sometimes still possible by air, at a very different freight cost. Ask us where your date stands — we will say honestly if it is too late.

How Ordering Works

The same three steps as every box we make — an advent calendar just has more doors:

  1. Send your items and quantities. Product dimensions decide drawer heights, tray depths and door sizes — not the other way round. Free artwork support if you have a designer; free templates if you do not.
  2. Approve a physical sample. You hold the actual calendar, open every door, and load one with your real products before giving the go-ahead.
  3. Production with photo QC. Five inspection checkpoints from incoming paperboard to final packing, with photos at each stage — you see your order being built.

Packing and Protecting Calendar Orders

An advent calendar box travels further than most packaging — factory floor, container, warehouse, last-mile courier — and a 24-compartment structure has far more ways to fail than a single gift box. Drawers work loose, dividers shift, and an item that moves inside its compartment arrives scuffed even if the box looks perfect from outside.

Three things we build in by default: compartment tolerance (each cell sized to your product with a small allowance so nothing rattles), insert material matched to fragility (paper dividers for sturdy items, EVA or moulded pulp for glass and ceramics), and an outer shipping carton rated for sea freight — a corrugated outer with corner protection, not a printed box asked to do two jobs. Every order goes through the same five QC checkpoints as the rest of our production, and we photograph the packed cartons before they leave the floor.

Planning Backwards from Your Launch Date

The brands whose calendars arrive on time all plan the same way — backwards from the date the calendar must be in hand, not forwards from the day they decide to order. Between your first message and an advent calendar box on a shelf sit several stages that each consume time: specification and artwork back-and-forth across time zones, a physical sample that has to fly to you and be approved, tooling for the compartments, full production, QC, and ocean freight to your warehouse.

Every one of those stages can be compressed a little; none can be skipped. That is why we keep repeating the same advice: if the calendar is for this Christmas, the conversation should start in early October — and if you are reading this after mid-November, talk to us anyway, because an honest answer about your date is worth more than an optimistic one. Tell us your deadline and we will tell you if it works.

Advent Calendar Box FAQs

What is the minimum order for custom advent calendar boxes?

200 pieces. Because the compartments are produced as separate components that assemble into one calendar, MOQ applies to the finished calendar, not to each drawer or door.

Can you match a 12-door or 6-door format instead of 24?

Yes. Twelve-day “12 Days of Christmas” calendars and shorter 5–7 door formats are common for premium products, and they reduce both board use and assembly time. Tell us your item count and we will propose the split.

Can the calendar ship flat?

Book-style and gate-fold formats ship flat and reduce freight volume substantially. Drawer-style calendars can be engineered with a fold-down outer case, though the drawers themselves stay assembled. We will show you the freight difference for both before you commit.

Do you supply empty calendars for us to fill ourselves?

Yes — unprinted and partially finished structures are available, and we can send them with loose inserts so your team can adapt the layout per season without reordering tooling.

Do you make countdown calendars for occasions other than Christmas?

Yes. The structure behind our advent calendar boxes works for any countdown — Ramadan (30 days), Lunar New Year, Easter, weddings, product launches and employee onboarding kits. The mechanics stay the same and only the artwork, colours and copy change, so brands often run a second edition with minimal new tooling. If your market celebrates more than one gifting season, it is worth deciding the second one before the first tooling is cut.

Can the calendar match our existing rigid box range?

It should — and matching is a real QC task, not a detail. Advent calendar boxes produced as part of a wider rigid box program share the same greyboard grades, art papers and Pantone references as your everyday packaging, so a customer who buys your box in March and your calendar in November sees the same brand colour. We keep colour records per client precisely so seasonal pieces and core range pieces stay consistent across years.
